I envy you sheriff Stone. I wish I could be fortunate enough to live back in time in a ghost town.. Not many people are that fortunate enough or care enough to do what you are doing. Keep up the good work. Too much of our past is gone forever but you can make a difference. God bless you. E,R.King

What a great restoration. This is what it takes to keep history alive. I'll be traveling from SoCal to Beatty this month and hopefully will be able to overnight at your town for a little history and R&R before treking to Tonopah and Beatty. Best of luck in your future endeavors.

Just wanted to let you know that my kids and I were there the day before the land rush with my parents, Helen and Dave Mckinnon, and we enjoyed our short stay there. Alot of history, I only wish we had another day to do some further exploring.

I just got back from the First Annual BBQ and Bluegrass celebration in Goldpoint. A fine feast, lots of good guy-bad guy showdowns (lost count of how many times Sheriff Stone got shot), and great music all day and all night. Had a wonderful time and met a lot of good folk. Perfect weather too. Thanks, Herb, for putting it all together. I'll be back for your next event.

GOOD JOB We were in Goldfield this weekend. Herb gave us a couple wooden nickels. I paint signs, and would like to help. I can't do everything for free, but I'll do what I can. We'll try to make it up Saturday.

Hi Sheriff Stone and Red Dog Lil! We miss you! Everytime I open my fridge and see the sourdough pancake starter in there, I think of the fun we have everytime we visit with you. Sounds like you will be able to spend even more time at your favorite haunt now that Red Dog Lil has a shorter comute! Glad to hear it!

No "advertising pitches" so I won't try to sell (cell) ya'all a phone! Cute site say's my one-eyed wife. "Shoot low sheriff...their ridin' shetland's!" I drive thru Goldfield once a year maybe, I love that area. Have a huge picture of "Baxter' building (north end of town) on living room wall and one of the old building across from where the police station is. Good luck with all your endeavors podnah!

An experience to drive up from Vegas, but worth the trip. It's like leaving the real world. We were there and had a beer on July 3, 2002. Thanks for telling us the history. Phyllis and Jim.

Hi, My Aunt Ruth forwared this web site to me& what a wonderful surprise! We used to live in Gold Point! My grandmother ran the boarding house, and my grandfather worked in the mine. We went to school at a near by ranch. I have a couple of photos that I would copy and send to you if your interested. By the way, I am not older than dirt. I am 49 and it was quite an experience to be raised in mining camps. Hope to visit again one of these days. Best wishes, Shawn Gronlund

This is a fantistic web-site !!! It shows a lot of hard work and creativeness!! We had a really good time at your chili cook off over the Memorial Weekend. Next time we are going to bring our RV so we can stay longer! We are interested in competing in the cook off next year. Can you fill us in on how we go about entering? My folks lived there in the early 60s. My stepdad mined and my mother ran a boarding house for the miners.
